UPDATES:

April 1, 2009
Due to geocities dumping my pages there I have begun reconstructing this site to serve as my basic web front. As space is at a premium here I am reconstructing the geocities pages at Photobucket as jpegs. I have not decided whether to link from here to those images or to drag the images here onto designated pages for them. So I am reconstructing this site to make it self-contained and am rethinking how I want to present myself and the world that I have experienced and my perspective of it here. While most websites are focused upon entertainment I am focused upon sharing a mindset and experiences that just may be of interest or of inspiration or of a challenging nature that will provide some impetus or inspiration for any who would journey within this site and the links that I provide as a pattern to my perspective. Enabling someone else to see the world as I see the world or put it another way, to be inside of me looking out at the world through my eyes is the challenge I have undertaken in the hopes of achieving this kind of interaction even though the flesh that has typed this may no longer exist, provided this website persists beyond the length of my life. That I find to be a cool thought.

GOT SOME BAD NEWS AND SOME GOOD NEWS!

BAD NEWS: links into the plant journals at topcities are not working at all. I have no idea why. I have checked to see if other persons sites are affected and they are not. Just mine. I cannot even log into edit my pages. Even though I emailed the webmaster I have yet to hear. Since my pages are not political or otherwise controversial I do not understand what the problem is unless their bandwidth is really so small that somehow the clicks into the pages have really exceeded my overall expectations!!

So it looks as though I will be moving the site. Just as well as:

THE GOOD NEWS: I have been busy completely redoing my moss journals! I think it is a big improvement over my current pages and I have made some great discoveies of mosses that I have growing in the pots in my backyard. I want this to be as comprehensive as possible. If the topcities site remains inaccessible then I will begin reconstruction at a new site beginning with the moss journals. Stay tuned.

Best wishes for a blessed year ahead!

Added to the site today are three pages with images of Ludisia discolor 'alba" in spike and flower. This is the first time this variety of Ludisia has flowered. As expected its flowers are practically identical to those of the primary species though with some slight differences in pigmentation.

During the interim of December I have been able to set up an old cracked 40-gallon hex-shaped aquarium that I will be using to grow Jewel Orchids inside of. This appears to be my only real option as I cannot keep slugs out of my greenhouse and while I do stomp on them when I find them all it takes is one with an appetite to do irrecoveraable damage to these kinds of orchids. More wil be forthcoming on this terrarium.

I have added a couple of links to Poetry.com pages of recent poems that I wrote in addition to the poems I have already journaled on the site. Most are from the 1960s. I shall be including songs (words only) in the section called ENATIONS where the poetry can be found.

This evening I finally got up a 2-page letter with the envelope from my mother to my dad while he was in boot camp at Camp Hood, Texas. I selected this letter (and one other to be added) because of the fact it is fairly easy to read, fairly short compared to most by her (!), and it really hits at the tedium that she was experiencing during this period in her life.

While a difficult period for all it was that time in which she, as well as my dad, developed the overview of the world into which they had ventured in their journey westward from the heartland of the USA. It is my belief that that pioneering spirit provided both with some measure of strength as they each faced the difficulty of not being together and served as the foundation upon which the moments of doubt and hesitation could be effectively overcame. Despite the presence of fellow comrades or family or neighbors these were moments of aloneness for each.

The letter is found under War Years.

AT LAST! While in the process of cleaning up my house I found the knob that I used in the Astral Projection that I experimented with some time ago. To view the page it is on Click here. I also have updated and included the sensitive's name as she has been long deceased and I definitely want to credit her with the remarkable feat that she performed.

Be sure to check out my Cool Sites page. I have added an embedded web video of what may be a very cool movie coming out today! Plus a link to the website which is VERY COOL. Be sure to click on the knobs on the left side of the round embedded screen. VERY COOL!

While my latest focus in the addition of journals to this website has been on Selaginella, I have not forgotten about the Mosses. While my current record-keeping on the mosses is somewhat helter-skelter I am developing at the moment a minimal one page journal for the nine species noted in my introductory page on the mosses. Today I have added a page on the first moss so identified which features some images and a few relevant bits of information. I shall be adding another journal on this moss with current images and an analysis of its condition and what I aim to attempt with it. Hopefully I shall have all the mosses identified on the introductory page with at least a one page journal each.

I am delighted to have been able to push out a five page image profile of this unusual Selaginella, Selaginella X neomexicana. The X denotes that this is a hybrid between two species. There is some debate as to what the parent species are but one is probably Selaginella rupincola. What it means for this particular plant is that it only occurs in areas where the two different parent species occur as this hybrid is sterile and cannot produce viable spores but can be propagated vegetatively.

Also during the past week I have managed to begin the section on my cats. Most are deceased and I will have to do a great deal of scanning to get the images into my machine for presentation. I will begin with the almost first cat, Black. More later.

At last! I have got the basic framework of The War Years up! On the internal pages of the section be sure to check for links within the section in the lower left corner of the webpage.

In the development of this section I am including copys of letters between my father and mother and perhaps his parents as well. I will scan in the original for display but will type out the letters as they may not be entirely legible. At this point I have only typed in one letter, perhaps, the most important letter my dad ever wrote. It came as a shock to me to read it and I am reproducing it as I think that it is very worthwhile. However, I did do a page in which I tried to set up the situation under which this particular exchange occurred as best as I could with what I have learned to date. The inclusion of this letter from my dad to my mother is not meant to discredit or to slam her as I love her very much. Please read it in light of the situation. And I will be adding more letters from him as well as one or two from her.

Today marks the first day of my second year of retirement! I am delighted to have been able to get as much done as I have during the past year. I am still in the process of getting my life back from the business. Even so the reworking of this website and these latest additions have been very enjoyable in preparing and sharing. Please note that the latest addition that I had planned for later this week will be on the site sometime next week. The Years of War will feature general comments about my dad's role and some of the mememorabilia of that period plus images of the family and the stuff. I am trying to create a very interesting addition that I hope will expand upon the general knowledge of those years of distress.
