From September, 1994 to (TBA) , I self-published a fanzine that had its beginnings as a hand-out for the customers at a local comic book shop, Joe's Comics (Santa Maria, California). The fanzine began as CARD CONNECT and was published monthly until September, 1996. At that time I revamped the zine from being one solely supportive of comic books, trading cards, action figures, and related media and collectibles into a more progressive zine called SPLIT/IMAGE that included the prior content of CARD CONNECT but expanded into including more esoteric creative works such as short stories, poems, art, and whatever seemed cool to include.

Because of the demands of operating an accounting business and having to take on the additional tasks of helping in my dad's income tax business, SPLIT/IMAGE became a quarterly publication and devolved into an irregular publication as time and financial resources became limited. The early issues of SPLIT/IMAGE were sent out to the original CARD CONNECT mailing list but eventually the issues of SPLIT/IMAGE were sent out only to the local area and a few scattered readers in the US. The final issue of SPLIT/IMAGE, issue #8, was never mailed out to anyone.

I have recently found my master copies of both CARD CONNECT and SPLIT/IMAGE and will be reworking this introduction once I get everything reorganized.

For the time being use the below banners to link to the available issues of either CARD CONNECT or SPLIT/IMAGE. Happy reading.
